Do you read my email?
Only what you ask us to. With your permission we search your Gmail for receipt-like messages (read-only), keep the receipt itself, and never store the rest of your mailbox. Disconnecting removes our access and the index immediately. Details in the privacy policy.
What happens to my receipt images?
They are stored privately in your account and sent to an AI model once to read the fields. They are not used to train anything.
Why does Google warn me when I connect Gmail?
Google adds a “Google hasn’t verified this app” screen for apps that haven’t been through its app review yet, which What Receipt? hasn’t. To continue, tap Advanced, then Go to whatreceipt.com, and tick the box that lets What Receipt? read your email. Access stays read-only, and you can disconnect at any time from Settings.
Does it work with Outlook or other mail?
Yes. Every account gets a private forwarding address, so you can forward receipts from Outlook or any other mailbox. On Pro, Gmail connects directly, and so can iCloud, Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail and Zoho Mail (with an app password), so receipts arrive on their own. Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 can't connect directly yet; use forwarding.
Can it keep track of my subscriptions?
Yes. Once a vendor has billed you three months in a row (or renewed twice a year apart), it appears under Upcoming charges with the day it usually bills, the amount to expect (a range for usage-based bills like cloud hosting), and whether this month's receipt has arrived. Price changes and subscriptions that look cancelled are flagged too. It works from your receipts, not your bank, so a subscription that never sends a receipt won't show up until you add one.
Can my accountant see my receipts?
Yes, on every plan. Create an accountant link in Settings and send it: they see the receipts you choose (all, or one project and date range) with totals, images and a CSV download, without an account. Turn it off whenever you like.
Can I export to QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes. Download a QuickBooks Online bank-upload file or a Xero bills import from the Export screen, or use the plain CSV. The guides for QuickBooks Online and Xero walk through each import.
Why are there three monthly prices for Pro?
Pro works the same at every price. $6.99 a month is the standard price. If What Receipt? is worth more to you, you can choose $9.99 or $13.99 a month instead, which helps fund development. Change your price or cancel anytime from Manage billing in Settings. The yearly plan is $59.
